As prescribed by the charter, OLACEFS has the following attributes:

  • To promote and carry out systematic research studies on the control and supervision of the management of public resources and communicate the results to its members.
  • To guide, organize and conduct training, specialization and postgraduate courses as well as seminars and special events, primarily for those staff members of the organization that perform technical tasks of control and supervision.
  • To promote the provision of advisory services and technical assistance to its members regarding the control and supervision of the management of public resources.
  • To compile work carried out in each country concerning organization and administrative and financial control and disseminate it in Latin American and Caribbean nations.
  • To promote and edit publications relating to the control and supervision of the management of public resources.
  • To promote the exchange of technical experiences amongst its members.
  • To serve as liaison between the superior audit institutions of other nations attending conferences and to promote the exchange of specialists.
  • To establish and enhance a documentation center consisting primarily of literature on the control and supervision of the management of public resources and related disciplines.
  • To maintain contact of a scientific and technical nature with institutions and organizations in other regions of the world that specialize in the control and supervision of the management of public resources.
  • To create commissions and committees for subregions, functional areas, subjects and/or specific issues, as appropriate.
  • To foster collaboration through the establishment of relationships with experts in the control and supervision of the management of public resources, as well as with university organizations, development finance bodies and professional groups.
  • To coordinate special studies requested by a government or group of governments of Latin American and Caribbean nations.
  • To organize high-level reflection forums of active members for the analysis of specific strategic issues related to higher control and supervision.
  • To provide rewards and/or incentives in the manner and under the terms determined by the specific regulation
