On Thursday, August 12, the first meeting of the Coordinated Audit, of the Latin American and Caribbean Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (OLACEFS), of SDG 3B “Addressing good health and well-being” was held, led by the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Peru within the framework of the Working Group on Disaster Management Auditing within the Framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (GTFD) chaired by the Superior Audit Office of the Federation of Mexico.

The meeting was held virtually and was aimed at promoting dialogue and initiating coordination and activities within the framework of the Coordinated Audit of SDG 3B. The Comptroller General of the Republic of Peru and President of OLACEFS, Econ. Nelson Shack Yalta, welcomed and thanked the attendees, where he stressed that “from OLACEFS we are committed to establish mechanisms to assist member SAIs to address the impact of the development of this pandemic and the improvement of public policies in health.” Likewise, Mr. David Colmenares, Superior Auditor of the Federation of Mexico, gave his message for the success of this initiative.

The meeting was attended by the Comptroller of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Ms. Yesmín Valdivieso, and Vice Comptrollers, with a total of 178 officials from the full member Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of OLACEFS from Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay; as well as associate members Corte dei Conti of Italy, the Office of the Comptroller General of Bogotá, the Honorable Court of Accounts of the Province of Buenos Aires and the Court of Accounts of the State of Bahia.

The main objective of the Coordinated Audit of ODS 3B is to evaluate the implementation of target B of said SDG, with emphasis on the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic, contributing to the strengthening of the management of the health sector in the region, based on sharing good practices that make it possible to improve services aimed at citizens of all countries.
