Within the framework of the actions aimed at consolidating the results of the Coordinated Audit on Governance Structures for the Comprehensive Management of Mining Environmental Liabilities, MELs, developed within the framework of the OLACEFS Public Works Working Group, the second virtual workshop of the coordinated audit will take place between April 27 and 30.
In this scenario, 65 auditors from 13 Supreme Audit Institutions, members of OLACEFS, are expected to participate and discuss the results of national audits with a regional focus.
The workshop will be inaugurated in an activity open to the public, broadcast on the platforms of the OLACEFS and the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile, on April 27 at 11:00 a.m. in Chile, where authorities will participate, as well as experts in matters of external control in the mining sector from an environmental perspective, considering the importance of the 2030 Agenda in the impetus required to implement the comprehensive management of MELs in the region.
The closing of the workshop will be held on April 30 at the same time, and will be attended by the Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile, as well as experts belonging to the Working Group on the Audit of Extractive Industries (WGEI), and Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA), both from INTOSAI, as well as the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the Canadian Audit & Accountability Foundation (CAAF).
We appreciate, in the global health context generated by COVID 19, the effort of SAIs in carrying out this process, successfully adapting the methodologies of coordinated audits.
It should be noted that the event will have simultaneous translation into English and Spanish.
