On May 6, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Brazil time, GMT-3), the closing event of the OLACEFS-GIZ Project will be held. In this event, the community of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) and stakeholders will be able to learn about the initiatives developed, and the impacts and results obtained by the regional Project for Strengthening External Control in the Environmental Area, implemented by the German Cooperation, through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in alliance with the TCU of Brazil and OLACEFS.
For five years, the Project has had the opportunity to collaborate with OLACEFS on several initiatives and has successfully achieved the objective of promoting and strengthening environmental external control, as well as the role of SAIs in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda.
Despite the challenges imposed by the pandemic, the established goals were gradually accomplished and, in the last months, efforts have been added to promote actions and develop initiatives that have made it possible to progress towards a different paradigm, reaching new perspectives for the environmental control community.
The event will be attended by Econ. Nelson Shack Yalta, Comptroller General of the Republic of Peru and Chairman of OLACEFS; Dr. Jorge Bermúdez Soto, Comptroller General of the Republic of Chile and Executive Secretary of OLACEFS; Minister Augusto Nardes, of the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU-Brazil) and Chairman of the Capacity Building Committee of OLACEFS (CCC); Erwin Ramírez Gutiérrez, Director of the regional Project for Strengthening External Control in the Environmental Area; Hugo Chudyson, from the OLACEFS Special Technical Commission on the Environment (COMTEMA), among other authorities and representatives.
The event will also be the occasion for the official launch of the OLACEFS-GIZ Regional Magazine, which aims to communicate the impacts of the initiatives developed by the Project in coordination with the TCU and OLACEFS. The virtual magazine will be available in Spanish, English and Portuguese, through the Organization’s website.
The event will be held through the Zoom platform and will have simultaneous translation into English and Spanish. You can access it at the following link: https://cutt.ly/SbjYT6q.
